NX1 is a universal new-tab extension for Chrome and Edge (Manifest V3) that turns your new tab page into personalized start pages with their own background, accent color, and shortcuts. There’s also a web app at start.nx1-app.com for mobile. There are no ads and no tracking.

NX1 is free to use with no registration, no email and no password. If you want to sync devices, that works through a pairing code instead of a login. Some premium features may be added later, but the core features stay free.

No. The AI personalization reads your bookmarks and history locally on your device; only anonymized domain and keyword patterns reach the server, never full URLs or personal data. There are no ads, no tracking, and your data is not sold.

Each start page is a standalone topic page with its own background, accent color, and shortcuts. They work for any topic, such as work, shopping, sports, or hobbies; Start and Shopping come preconfigured. Gaming start pages are just one example like any other.

There are two ways. Choose Create with AI and describe the start page, such as "Soccer — news, schedule, tickets", and the AI generates categories, links, and a design. Or use Manual, give it a name, pick a color world and your searches, and the start page is ready right away.

You write a prompt, such as "Bayern Munich — news, shop, stadium", and the AI researches real links, sorts them into categories, and picks a color world and name. This usually takes 20 to 40 seconds. You can preview and edit the result before saving, so you can add links, swap sources, or regenerate.

Yes. To edit, open a start page and change its name, color world, or background; for AI-generated start pages you can also adjust individual categories and links. To delete, you’ll find a delete button in edit mode. A deleted start page cannot be recovered.

Autopilot is an optional feature that keeps your start pages current as your bookmarks or history change. New bookmarks land automatically in matching topic folders. You can toggle Autopilot in settings; without it, your start pages stay static and you edit them manually.

In the search bar you select multiple providers via checkboxes, such as Google, Bing, DuckDuckGo, YouTube, or Reddit. When you submit, all selected sources open in parallel, the first in your current tab and the rest in the background. Your browser’s default search engine stays untouched; the search runs only on the new tab page.

The news feed aggregates RSS and Atom feeds from the bookmarks in a start page, including those in its folders. NX1 automatically looks for a feed on each bookmarked site; sites without a feed are skipped. Up to eight items are loaded per source, newest first, and feed content is cached for about three hours.

Yes. Each start page has a manage button in the news section that opens the source picker. There you toggle individual feed-capable bookmarks on or off; deselected sources disappear from the feed right away, and the choice is saved per start page. Sources without a valid feed don’t appear in the picker.

Open a start page and go to its appearance section. You can pick a color world or upload your own background image; the accent color is then derived locally from the image, without AI vision. The text color adapts automatically so text stays readable on light and dark backgrounds alike.

Yes, each start page has its own appearance. Color world, background image, and accent are set per start page, so Start and Shopping can look quite different, for example. These settings sync across your paired devices.

Open the sync settings on both devices. On the desktop you show the pairing code, and on the phone you scan the QR code or enter the code. After that, start pages, links, and settings sync between the desktop extension and the phone web app, and you can add more devices.

The pairing code is also your recovery key, so keep it safe. You can reveal and copy it anytime in the sync settings. If you lose the code and sign out of all devices, the synced data can no longer be reached, because there is no central account in your name.

Screenshot help is an AI feature on supported gaming start pages like Minecraft: you upload a game screenshot and get tips plus links to trusted sources such as wikis or creator videos. There are daily limits per installation, three images per day for the first seven days and one per day afterwards; the limit resets daily.
